A peek outside the window might not show it, but spring is coming early. Punxsutawney Phil, the official season-declaring groundhog, said so, and that’s all the facts that I need. As far as I’m concerned, that means now is as good a time as any to start gearing up for my favorite time of the year: swimsuit season.
Like any other aspect of fashion, the swim industry experiences a continuous change in trends. Sure, your trusty black, deep V-neck maillot is a classic that will always make the packing list cut, but the rest of your trend-driven bikinis inventory may need a refresh.
This year’s swimsuits are chock-full of fun prints you’re going to want to get in on. From a surprisingly late ’90s/early ’00s style to prints fresh off the S/S 20 runway, these trends are some of the most inspired yet. So get into beach vacation mode and prepare to dive head-first into the top swimsuit prints of 2020.
There’s a new king of the jungle here to claim the cat-print throne. While leopard and cheetah prints will still be prevalent this upcoming swim season, it’s tiger-print suits that will be making the biggest splash.
Why choose one color when you can have both? This color-blocking trend splits things straight down the middle.
Remember the late ’60s/early ’70s prints we told you to keep an eye out for this spring? Well, swimsuits aren’t exempt. From psychedelic flower patterns to muted vintage-inspired tones, the beach is bound to be full of throwback wallpaper-esque prints.
Another S/S 20 runway print making an appearance? Tropical prints. Expect to see tropical flora and fauna (think banana leaves, palm leaves, birds of paradise, etc.) decorating this year’s itsy bitsy bikinis.
To be completely upfront, we never thought we’d see the return of this print, yet here we are. Our ’90s selves are quaking with joy. There’s no dipping your toes into this trend. When it comes to snakeskin print, you can only go big or go home.
For those itching for a prettier print, these romantic florals are just the ticket. Delicate little flowers are blended with soft pastel hues for an ultra-feminine effect.
Up next, three cool swimsuit styles that are basically internet-stalking me.
