Everyone Will Be Wearing Vests in 2 Months’ Time—so Why Not Start Now?

It’s true—vests are about to be everywhere. From Celine’s and Max Mara’s three-piece suits to David Koma’s and Tibi’s jumbo versions, they came down the S/S 20 runways in countless forms, solidifying them as a major trend in the months to come. The best thing about them, however, (besides their versatility) is that they are seasonless, so why not get ahead of all your friends and start wearing them now?

Layer one over a turtleneck or wear it alone as a going-out top (a look you’ll see sported by Kaia Gerber on the next slide). However you choose to do it, it’s time to get on board. I know I have. In fact, a certain Nili Lotan style you’ll also see in the coming slides is actually on its way to me from Net-a-Porter as we speak. If that’s not putting your money where your mouth is, I don’t know what is. To see all the runway looks I loved and shop 18 of my favorite vests to wear right now, just keep scrolling.

Wear it alone or over a sweater.

Reformation is killing me with this outfit.

I love how this is simple, but the details make it far from basic.

This just feels so modern and cool.

Wear this as a dress or vest.

Obsessed with this for spring.

I needed you to see how perfect this looks under a blazer.

PSA: This also comes with a matching blazer that layers over or under it!

Possibly my favorite of the bunch.

Tibi always gets it right.

Love a matching set.

Now, that’s a good markdown.

The chicest.

Layer this over a turtleneck and under all your blazers. Or, of course, wear it just like that with jeans.

I’m inspired.

Everything is better with a built-in belt.

You’ll live in this linen vest once spring starts.

Maryam Nassir Zadeh is always ahead of the curve.

Up next: These are the best spring 2020 trends, period.
