Cristiano Ronaldo placed on special training regime as Juventus aim to help star rediscover goalscoring form

Juventus have reportedly placed Cristiano Ronaldo on a specialised work plan in a bid to re-find the Portuguese superstar’s goal scoring form.

Ronaldo joined Italian giants Juve in the summer for £99million from Real Madrid, but is yet to find the net in Serie A.

The former Manchester United ace has drawn blanks against Chievo, Lazio and Parma, playing 90 minutes in each fixture, with Mario Mandzukic leading the scoring charts in Turin.

Ronaldo came into the season on the back of a gruelling La Liga season and World Cup during the summer and Juve are targeting their prize possession to hit top form in January.

As a result, Massimiliano Allegri and his coaches have put together a carefully managed work load.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport explained: “Cristiano Ronaldo has taken this type of programming a step further, because during the seasons he has studied together with the experts of Real Madrid the evolution of his body and therefore has adapted his way of working.

“Over the years Ronaldo learned to control himself, he did not have all the energy when he first signed.

“He considered that being ready from the beginning of the season could be counterproductive and even risky because of the probability of fatigue, if not injury, would increase during the decisive phase of spring.

“That is why in recent years he has slightly modified his plans.”
