Warner Bros. has an extensive slate of films planned out over the next few years, including everything from Justice League to solo films for the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. However, perhaps the riskiest project of all may be its reboot of the Green Lantern franchise, which is still suffering from the 2011 flop.
With Green Lantern Corps. in active development, we look back at what we know about the project so far.
1. Its release is still years away
The seeds for Justice League have already been planted, but Green Lantern likely won’t join their ranks until the sequel. Director Zack Snyder is already shooting the team-up film with an expected 2017 release. Green Lantern Corps., however, won’t arrive until July 24, 2020.
Presumably, that faraway release date is intended to give the studio time to figure out just the right approach to the intergalactic police that lends the film its title (and to distance itself from that other film).
