There are many reactions when you find out you are pregnant; you may worry that you’re not ready or excited especially if you have been trying to conceive for a while. Nothing feels magical than carrying a life inside you. It’s a privilege. The thing is, being pregnant for the first can be a little overwhelming. You don’t even know what to do.Ofcourse ,there are general habits you know you have to quit such as smoking, drinking and lifting heavy luggage’s which can be very harmful to you and your unborn baby. But should your diet remain the same? Definitely not. There is some food that is safe for the baby while others are not, no matter how intense the craving is.

Foods you must eat

Fishwomen who eat fish during pregnancy tend to give birth to smart kids. Fish such as salmon have little mercury and contain omega -3 fatty acids that are essential to a child’s brain growth and development. Research show that kids whose mothers ate fish during pregnancy had a good memory and better coordination.

Eggs.Eggs contain vitamins A, B and D .they also contain zinc .all these are critical for the development of a child. The egg York is rich in fatty acids which are good for the baby’s brain health.

Fruits. Bananas contain of the diseases commonly experienced by pregnant women is anemia which is a caused by iron deficiency. Anemia is a significant risk for both the baby and the mother. Eating a couple of bananas daily throughout your pregnancy can be very helpful.

Mangoes .This IS one of the sweetest and healthiest fruits .It is rich in fiber good for short almost all fruits have a role to play for a smooth pregnancy and child development.

Milk .A pregnant should drink up to 3 cups of milk per day according to USDA. According to research done by the university of Ohio milk which is rich in proteins can translate to the healthy baby’s weight and overall health.

Milk is also rich in calcium which is fundamental to bone and teeth development of the child. Vitamin D present in the milk help in preventing rickets.

Foods you may need to avoid include:

  • Undercooked meat
  • Seafood that contains too much mercury such as swordfish
  • Unwashed fruits.
  • Caffeine
  • Sugary foods such as chocolates,
  • Junk food.
