Game of Thrones has never been a show short of eminently hatable characters. For the first few seasons, we had Joffrey Baratheon, who spent the better part of his short life gleefully torturing women, both emotionally and physically. Once he bit the dust, Ramsay Bolton filled his considerable shoes, somehow managing to be an even worse villain (mostly due to the horrific abuse he inflicted on Sansa Stark).
Season 6’s death toll was insanely high though, clearing the decks of Bolton, as well as a handful of other easy-to-hate characters. That leaves two living characters out of the seven we originally featured on our first “Most Hated” list. So let’s start from scratch and see who’s left, shall we?
Melisandre earned a good deal of brownie points when she brought Jon Snow back from the dead, but that doesn’t entirely erase her past sins. Lest we forget, this is the person who convinced Stannis Baratheon to burn his daughter alive in exchange for good weather. It was a moment so uncomfortably horrific, that not even George R.R. Martin thought to include it in the original novels.
All the Jon Snow resurrections in the world don’t cancel that out, nor does it make us forget the trail of bodies that followed Melisandre throughout her run as Stannis’ close advisor.
