If you think about it, it’s been awhile since there’s been a new legging trend to hit the scene (unlike a few years ago where everything from moto leggings to stirrup leggings to nude leggings was considered a trend). But alas, there seems to be a general consensus among celebrities lately that it’s time for a new one. Extremely stylish It girls like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Emily Ratajkowski, and now Gigi Hadid (to the airport in Milan) are wearing split leggings, which are basically long leggings with a slit at the ankle that gives them a flared appearance.
So what’s the draw? Well, they’re just as comfortable as your favorite athletic leggings but they’re much easier to dress up, and the opening at the hem means that you can wear them with even boots or bulky sneakers without them bunching up. For her arrival in Milan for MFW, Hadid paired her split leggings with an oversized coat, black turtleneck, and chunky sneakers. And it’s quite possibly the perfect travel outfit.
