Melania Trump is opening up about her relationship with Donald, life on the campaign trail and some of her famous friends in a new interview with DuJour.
The former model also takes some time to chide those who thinks she is just a pretty face with no brain, including MSNBC host Chris Matthews who the day before the interview was caught on air ogling Melania during an appearance in Indiana and saying; ‘Did you see her walk? Runway walk. My God, is that good. I could watch that runway show.’
It is this behavior that upsets Melania, who says; ‘Unbelievable. That’s what I’m saying! I’m not only a beauty, I’m smart. I have brains. I’m intelligent.
‘I would just say, Men will be men.’
Later in the piece she talks about an interesting night with Michael Jackson and reveals that Bill and Hillary Clinton did not get her a gift at her wedding.
‘I don’t think they sent a gift,’ says Melania when asked what her husband’s likely opponent in the upcoming presidential race got her for her big day.
‘Some people didn’t send gifts.’
Melania and Donald were married in 2005 at Mar-a-Lago, the billionaire’s Palm Beach estate, with the Clintons among the many famous faces who attended the ceremony.
The bride was featured on the cover of Vogue shortly after wearing her custom dress that was designed by John Galliano for Dior and said to have cost more than $100,000.
It was shortly after that wedding that Melania got to spend an evening with the King of Pop.
‘I met Michael Jackson,’ says Melania.
‘It was here in New York in the Pierre Hotel. He called us, so we went over and we had dinner. Just after dinner, we were chatting on the sofa and my husband went into another room to see some art somebody wanted to show him.
‘And Michael said to me, “Hey, when Trump comes back, let’s start kissing so he will be jealous!”‘
Melania says she did not give Jackson that kiss, but that the pair ‘were laughing so hard.’
Melania spends a majority of the interview however speaking about her life, her priorities, and how her relationship with Donald works.
‘When you walk in a room, everybody knows the person. Sometimes people see you with that man and maybe they know more about the man, and they judge you or see you differently,’ Melania says of marrying a celebrity
‘You need to know who you are and you need to be very secure. You need to stand up for yourself. You need to have your own yes and no.’
Melania also reveals she told Donald he needed to think long and hard before deciding to run for president, knowing how much it would change their lives, especially for Melania, who despite her celebrity has remained very private.
‘I have a life. I go out every day. I bring my son to school. I pick him up. I’m not an attention seeker. I’m not the one who calls paparazzi, “I have lunch with the girlfriends, and I’m going to this restaurant,”‘ explains Melania.
When asked about her friends Melania says she prefers ‘quality over quantity.’
There are also the attacks on Donald from people like comedian Louis C.K., who compared the Republican front-runner to Hitler.
Melania says she does not know who he is, before saying about her husband; ‘We know the truth. He’s not Hitler. He wants to help America. He wants to unite people. They think he doesn’t but he does. Even with the Muslims, it’s temporary.’
She then adds; ‘Maybe he needs to say it in a softer way. He doesn’t go after religions. He feels like we need to know who’s coming to this country.
‘If not, we don’t have a country. That’s how he feels. We see how he is, and he wants to unite the country and bring people together and bring jobs back.
