New Yorkers Love This Versatile Pant Trend—Here’s How They’re Styling It

If you’re constantly on the hunt for wardrobe staples that are as versatile as a pair of white sneakers, you’re in luck. Torrid’s newest selection of ponte pants is like dressed-up leggings that give you 24/7 style, making them the perfect winter pant that basically doubles as leggings. Caralyn Mirand Koch, a New Yorker hailing from Buffalo, is our fashion girl of the month who is showing us just how versatile these pants can be. “I usually opt for wardrobe staples that I can wear on rotation and layer appropriately,” she told us, which immediately made us think of the multitude of ways black ponte pants can be worn. With an on-trend classic trench? Absolutely. With printed tops to liven up your look? Duh. Keep reading to see the two ways Koch styled her pants.

There’s nothing we love more than a classic outfit that includes a beige trench, an animal print, and a good black bag. Koch felt the same, putting together one solid look that you can wear to work or a weekend shopping.  How would you describe your style in five words? Classic, sophisticated, accessible, functional, and put-together.

How do you style your winter wardrobe for transitional months? I tend to wear a lot of black, so I look to statement coats for an added level of warmth and style. I love to keep things easy and functional for New York winters. What’s your ideal daytime pant look? I kept my color palette neutral and styled the black pants with a sheer yet full-coverage leopard top that paired nicely with this classic beige trench coat.

We love that this coat was brought over to her second outfit option, showing its versatility, but what we love more are her pants. Rather than opting for a classic ponte pant, Koch went for a coated snakeskin version for a look she can wear for dinner or date night.  . We’re all for going-out looks, but it can be tricky in the winter. What’s your go-to outfit? For an evening or even date-night look, I couldn’t resist the subtle but stylish snakeskin ponte pant. It’s slightly coated, which makes it look like leather pants, but it’s stretchy like a pair of leggings to make me feel cozy and comfortable. I styled it with a watercolor printed tunic and a pair of classic strappy heels.

Why should someone try ponte pants for winter? I’ve tried my fair share of ponte pants in my day but I fell in love with the fabric of this pair from Torrid. It looks chic and gives me the versatility I need when dressing from day-to-night. What 2020 trends are you most excited for? I love to see that tie-dye and watercolor prints are back with an elevated twist. I also love that women are becoming more confident to wear whatever styles that make them feel good, no matter their body type. That’s one trend I can certainly get behind.
