Beyoncé Goes Bilingual, Stephen Colbert Gets Awkward, and Other Stars Support Cause

The island of Puerto Rico was battered by Hurricane Maria on Sept. 20, 2017. While residents there, and elsewhere in the Caribbean, dealt with the devastation and destruction the storm left behind, Mexico was dealing with its own natural disaster following a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck that caused widespread damage in and around Mexico City.

In the wake of these disasters, celebrities, including Beyoncé and Stephen Colbert, are stepping up to lend support and help the victims. Here’s what they are doing, as well as what other stars are doing to help.

Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony established Somos Una Voz initiative

After the hurricane hit Puerto Rico, Jennifer Lopez made a public plea via social media for her followers to donate whatever they could to those affected by Maria. The Puerto Rican star also teamed up with her ex-husband Mark Anthony to create an initiative called Somos Una Voz, which means We Are One Voice.

Many other celebrities, including Alex Rodriguez, Jada Pinkett Smith, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, and Vin Diesel, have donated to the campaign focused on getting medicine, food, and power to those in need.
