In addition to contacting the local police precinct for information, here are 15 states that have the highest rates of registered sex offenders per 100,000 people, according to research from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. How safe is your state?

Minnesota comes out as the state with the least number of sex offenders on our list. This state has 319 registered sex offenders per 100,000 people. When analyzing the sex crimes for major cities in Minnesota, Minneapolis had the highest number of reported rapes per capita (210), according to the FBI’s semiannual Uniform Crime Report. Minneapolis has a very high violent crime rate of 83.9, according to Sperling’s Best Places. This is much higher than the violent crime rate of 31.1 for the entire United States.
