Should you worry about Food Additives in your Food?

“The Healthiest Yogurt,” “100% Fruit Juice.”

If such messages on processed foods get the better of you, meaning you believe them, shocking details are in store for you. Food manufacturers seem to care until they need to simplify their packaging, processing and storage budgets, and tasks. The agents they use in these processes, called food additives, can cause you severe health problems. Unfortunately, the market is already flooded with additive-filled foods, meaning the process is irreversible. The only choice left standing is avoiding them.

Avoid these food additives at all costs!

  1. High Fructose Corn Syrup

This highly refined sweetener is included in almost all processed foods today. It contains one of the highest levels of calories amongst all additives meaning it can significantly cause weight gain. It increases cholesterol levels, causes tissue damage and encourages diabetes.

  1. Artificial Sweeteners

Popularly known as Aspartame, Equal or Nutrasweet, this food additive sweetener is known for causing more reactions in the human body than all other additives. It also ranks high in the cancer-causing foods’ list. Common side effects include brain tumor, erosion of intelligence, short-term memory loss, diabetes, lymphoma, chronic fatigue, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, seizures, migraines and multiple sclerosis. The list is endless.

  1. Potassium Bromate

Potassium Bromate is used to increase volume in pastries such as bread, rolls, and white flour. The additive is known to increase chances of developing cancer in humans and animals.

  1. Food Dyes

The most common food dyes are Blue, Red, Yellow and Yellow Tartrazine. They are known to cause reduction of IQ in infants, behavioral problems, cancer, chromosomal damage or adrenal gland and kidney tumors.

  1. E220 (Sulfur Dioxide)

This additive is common in beer, potato products, vinegar, juices, dried fruit, wine and soft drinks. In the United States, it is branded toxic and is not used on raw vegetables and fruit. Its reactions include low blood pressure, anaphylactic shock, bronchial complications, asthma development and destruction of vitamins B1 and E. Children should not consume it at all.

  1. Sodium Nitrate or Nitrite

Most preserved meats contain this additive: ham, bacon, corned beef, hot dogs, smoked fish, luncheon meats and all other processed meats. Although it is described as safe, factors inside the body turn it into a cancer-causing agent. It forms compounds such as nitrosamine that destroy body organs such as the pancreas and the liver.

100% healthy? Definitely not.
