There are few times that The Simpsons have provided real-life events in their chapters. The embarrassing scandal that has engulfed FIFA corruption is just one of them.

“You do not have live like a referee” episode was broadcasted in the United States on March 30, 2014, in which Homer is a referee in the Brazil World Cup 2014.

The plot of the episode revolves around the attempt to bribe Homer. In one scene, a vice-president of FIFA is arrested for corruption in the house of the Simpsons.

It was recently announced that within FIFA, two cases of corruption where bribes and money laundering were the reason for the arrest of seven sports leaders of the governing body of world football.

The first investigation was initiated by a prosecutor in New York for allegedly paying bribes of more than 100 million dollars to leaders of the Federation, in return for broadcasting rights, advertising and sponsorship.
