10 Tiny Things To Remember If You Want To Find Lasting LovePriscilla Du Preez

1. Love always comes with pain.

And you can’t do anything about it. Hang loose. Keep it low. Love is magical, but can also be lethal. Dance with the rhythm of your heartbeat. If it grows tired, breathe. If it spirals down, at least give it a good fight. Love is the power potion of mankind. Without it, all else falls down. Love ensures life, it provides. Create balance on its proportion. Equal measurement of sugar and spice. All things dangerous and nice. Love should not hold you captive. If it’s suffocating, mend it. If it shatters you to pieces, heal. But if it makes you happy, keep it.

2. You don’t have to be anything to earn it.

You are loved since day one. If you ever wonder why there are times why you feel so alone. Don’t rush. It will come. Somehow, somewhere someone will come knocking at your door. Let him or her in. They’ll still vanish anyway, reality checked. But life doesn’t end there. Another door opens the moment the other closes. And it goes on. Keep it going don’t be afraid. Someone will come and if he or she stays, the key is yours to manage.

3. Let your love show, and don’t keep it to yourself.

Show your love more often. Speak your heart out. Seize it while it’s there. Enjoy each other’s company while it lasts. Or have the initiative to make it last. Nothing beats a genuine love.

4. Set boundaries.

I’m not sure if this would matter anymore, but what better way to know your rightful place in each other’s lives than having a slap of reality in both of your faces? Don’t let your potentials get stuck on the blurred lines. Before anything else, clear things out. I repeat, clear things out. Do each other a favor, and start it smooth.

5. Know each other’s love language.

Affection is reciprocal and the way you communicate it is vital. Know what keeps him or her happy and keep away from the things that would make him or her sad. Control your way away from temptations. Accept each other’s flaws and bestow each with respect and trust. Set a good foundation that will keep your relationship intact.

6. Time is synonymous with change.

It elicits fear. Either it heals, or it fades. Whatever lies ahead, we stand clueless. Keep the line of communication open. Nothing will be drawn sketchy if you observe transparency. But remember to keep the individuality and respect each other’s personal space.

7. Keep it real.

You don’t have to be confused all your life. Send all your worries and doubts to ashes. Focus on what’s going on “now,” and enjoy the process. If you ever feel torn, never cruise on both rivers. Empty your heart from the ghosts of yesterday. Devote your time to your choices today and let yourself grow out of misery. It’s all in the mind, as psychology would say. It is, but you can never dictate your heart. Move forward. Play it fair. Take it all gradually.

8. Know your worth.

See that parcels of diamonds hanging by the thin air? You are worth more than that and more than you can ever imagine. You are never too much, or any less. You deserve that love and affection. And you deserve to be treated right. The prime wisdom of life is actually knowing when to stay and when to walk away. Love won’t keep us alive, not all the time.

9. Love means sacrifice.

It comes in many forms. Take note, render it last in your options. It’s okay to give chances. If you can still save it, save it. But don’t forget to save yourself from it, too. And how? You just have to set control and know when enough is enough. To love is such a beautiful thing. It isn’t delusional, nor is it selfish. But like anything else, it has limit.

10. But as much as it hurts, sometimes you need to let go.

Goodbyes are not always tragic. They are just beginnings that were meant to end. Let’s be realists and try not to complicate things. It’s always toxic to foster hate. Free yourself from a huge load. Let go of the burdens that are no longer needed in your system. Lift yourself up and let your tears run dry. Time heals all wounds, after all.

10. Remember that when love ends, you can always start anew.

Pick yourself back up. Surround yourself with positivity and strive to be better. Not for anyone else but for yourself. Better days are ahead of you. TC mark
