For The First Time, I Don’t Want To Think About Tomorrow

For the first time, I don’t want to overthink
every word, every action and every breath.
I don’t want to ruin every moment.
I just want to live day by day.
For the first time, I don’t want to be too logical
or too calculated or too guarded.
I want to let myself feel.
I want to allow my heart to breathe.
For the first time, I don’t want to listen to others.
I don’t want to even tell them anything.
I don’t want to believe everything they say.
I just want to trust my own decisions.
For the first time, I’m tired of being my worst enemy;
thinking things won’t last,
or I don’t deserve good things,
or I’m not enough.
For the first time, I want to feel good enough.
I want to allow myself to be happy.
Happiness won’t always be short-lived —
not everything will break my heart.
For the first time, I’m learning how to be still
and not be too hard on myself.
I’m learning that maybe the universe is on my side
and timing is not always a bitch.
For the first time, I’m changing my narrative.
I’m changing the voices inside my head.
I’m changing my story —
writing a happy ending instead. TC mark
