Sometimes I’m Scared Of Letting You Go

couple walking in tunnel, scared of letting go, letting go, scared to let goWarren Wong

Do you think
humans have the capacity to dissolve
relationships after they’re gone? To break
connections,
to unremember
unknown
unfeel?

Do you think
lovers have the ability to fully walk away
from what once set their world ablaze
to the point that they burned—
beautiful
self-destruction
in the name of forever?

Do you think
two people can forget the way another’s lips
tasted on their mouth
or how love was carved
on their soul
like tattoos on skin?

Do you think
hearts can retell their story over and over
until the resolution
is no longer the same?
Until they are two separate
beating
beings?
Until there is no
belonging
to anyone other than oneself?

Do you think
I will ever learn
how to be
anyone other
than yours? TC mark
