Why People Who Love The Christmas Season Are The Happiest To Be Around

There’s nothing quite like this time of year.

The streets are adorned with lights, people seem to be a little more generous, and there’s even a little hope for the Scrooge’s of the world. It’s like for once, everyone around you has something to look forward to and the fact that everyone is looking forward to the same thing just makes it that much better. It’s almost like we aren’t all as different as we sometimes feel.

First of all, not to be forgotten, the whole reason behind celebrating Christmas is just such a beautiful thing. As cliché as all the Claymation and cartoon movies make it out to be, you really can (and should) strip away the toys and presents and commercialization of this time of year. It comes down to peace on earth, seeing children and adults alike believing in magic, and coming together again year after year. We put up lights to offset any darkness, we play music that everyone knows the words to, our homes smell like a combination of the outdoors and a bakery, and some of the absolute best movies are always on TV. Not to mention the Christmas episodes of pretty much any TV show come only second to the Thanksgiving episodes.

Regardless of a dollar amount, any gift given during this time of year has just a little bit more meaning. We trudged through the highs and lows of this year, have a brand-new year staring at us in the not-too-distant future, and are provided with an opportunity to show the people dearest to us how much we love them. Kids are crafting for their parents, significant others are buying watches or earrings and necklaces – or maybe even a ring. Siblings are digging through their piggy banks and best friends are trying to outdo the other for who can give the best gift.

For those of us going home to someone or a bunch of someone’s, it can be that much more exciting. Yes, maybe we dread the common family questions of what we’re doing with our lives and all of that, but there might come a day when no one is left to ask those questions. Maybe this Christmas you finally have an answer for them. Maybe this Christmas, you can ask them about them because I’m sure they’d love that. Maybe you can be a little extra grateful to have somewhere to go and someone waiting for you when you get there.

For those of us who do not get to be with our friends or family this Christmas, we are out of sight but not out of mind, and more importantly, not out of heart. The beauty of Christmas is that it comes every year and we always have the hope that we will be reunited for the next one, if not, sooner.

People who love the Christmas season are the happiest to be around because it really is the most wonderful time of the year.

May your 2017 Christmas be full of love and magic and may your heart on December 26th be full of brand new memories. TC mark
