Season 3 of The Flash ended on a major cliffhanger, leaving fans with plenty of questions. The CW series isn’t set to return until October, but viewers are already busy speculating about what’s to come. Here are seven new rumors about Season 4, from the potential villain to the latest on Barry Allen’s (Grant Gustin) fate:
1. The Thinker could be the new big bad
As showrunner Andrew Kreisberg first revealed at the 2017 PaleyFest, Season 4 will mark the first time that The Flash won’t have a speedster as the primary villain. So who will Team Flash be battling this season?
According to TVLine, Barry’s next adversary will be Clifford DeVoe, aka The Thinker. As fans know, the series hinted at the character’s future introduction in a couple of Season 3 episodes – including the finale, in which Savitar surveys S.T.A.R Labs and states, “This is where we came up with the cerebral inhibitor … to use against DeVoe.”
If DeVoe is the new big bad, it’s safe to say Barry will have his work cut out for him. In DC Comics canon, DeVoe is a failed lawyer who starts a new career as the brain behind the dealings of other criminals. He employs various scientific devices to wield the powers of mind control and telekinesis. He also once accepted a mission with the Suicide Squad in exchange for a full pardon.
