Like it or not, most of us have to get up and go to work every day. Whether heading to the office is a struggle or joy depends a lot on where we work. The best companies value their employees, pay them fairly, and provide ways for them to grow in their careers. Bad employers have a toxic culture, few opportunities for growth, stingy salaries, and subpar benefits. The challenge for job seekers is separating the wheat from the chaff.
Glassdoor, a job listing and employer review site, makes finding a job that doesn’t make you miserable a bit easier. In addition to a wealth of anonymous reviews, it also produces annual rankings of the best places to work. This year’s Employees’ Choice Award winners prove it’s possible to find a great place to work no matter what your field and where you live.
To determine the Employees’ Choice Award winners, Glassdoor analyzed more than 2.1 million anonymous company reviews submitted on the site over the past year. Companies were then ranked according to Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm. To be ranked, a company needed at least 75 approved reviews from U.S.-based employees and at least 1,000 employees. (Smaller employers were ranked separately.)
These are the 50 best companies to work for in America, according to Glassdoor. (Comments on what it’s like to work at each company are from Glassdoor reviews.)
